Bali: Onward to Ubud

Our final stop of the Bali portion of our trip was the more "tourist-centric" town of Ubud. As with the other locales in this beautiful country, we booked through AirBnB. This town experienced an upswing in tourism after the book and movie "Eat, Pray, Love", as this was the location of the Bali portion of her book. While I am sure that the local economy appreciated it, you can definitely tell where the culture and personality has eroded as a result of that.

My final outdoor shower, I am in heaven!

Open wall but sheltered bathroom, LOVING this concept

Room side pool

After dropping our things in our room and ventured into Ubud. If it had not been so hot and humid, it would have been perfectly walkable from our place to town, but not this day.  Also, Ubud is just a large town, not city-sized by any means. You can easily walk ALL of the streets in the town, taking the time to peer into or explore inside of all of the shops. The following are just a few of my favorite shots from around town.

Iced tea to cool down

Local liquors: Tuak (delicious) and Arak (not so good)

Black rice pudding = AMAZING

Fresh fruit smoothies every morning for breakfast = <3

Enjoying suckling pig at Ibu Oka

Honesty is the best policy

A evening spent lounging poolside, enjoying some Bintang and Bintang Radler.

Stay tuned because the Monkey Forest comes next!!!
