Greece: Escape to Delphi, the final (INCREDIBLE) day

For our final full day in Greece, we escaped the city one final time into the mountains to the ancient city of Delphi. The road to get there alone was worth the journey, winding through the inescapable beauty of rural Greece.

Of note: Delphi is NOT for the couch-potatoes, as it involves a lot of fairly steep hiking to get to the best part. And it is SO worth it! You tend to lose more and more people as you ascend, so by the time we got to the top we actually had the place to ourselves for a while. Interestingly enough, when we first got to the top, we ran into a group of high school students FROM HAWAII. It was awesome to chat with them (and reminisce), though I could not imagine making that trip.

On our return trip to Athens, we stopped at the Hosios Loukas Monastery...it was fantastic! Read more about it HERE.

For the remainder of our final evening in Greece, we wandered around Athens, enjoying the sights and sounds, and some drinks along the way. The stars aligned extraordinarily well for us, as we walked into a rooftop/outdoor bar (A is for Athens Hotel) and secured the only free table, in the corner, and ended our evening with a fine meal, many awesome custom libations, and *THE BEST* view of the city (see below). It was the most incredible end to an absolutely incredible trip. It just reaffirmed what I felt in Cyprus, I could definitely live in Greece.

Love this city. Love this country. LOVE MY LIFE.
