Cambodia: Sihanoukville Beachside

The final stop of our Cambodian tour was the relaxing seaside town of Sihanoukville, the perfect place to unwind as 2014 came to an end and we welcomed in 2015. It is also very much a "tourist town", but decent nonetheless. It is very easy to escape along to coast to secluded beaches or into the more "local" areas of the town to enjoy a nice meal. For comparison, it is similar to Ocean City, just Asian-style and significantly cheaper.

More street food? OF COURSE!

This is one of the local staples. It is steamed rice packed into bamboo with beans and coconut milk. These are then wrapped in banana leaves and put into the fire for a few hours. Very sweet and VERY filling....as newbies, we could only eat a few bites, but it was delicious!

Best dessert EVER! Fresh chopped fruit, black sticky rice with coconut milk, topped with pineapple ice cream.

Well, I guess I will go with the "better red" instead of the "decent red"

Not QUITE the same...

Unfortunately all of the pictures from this New Year's Eve did not come out. It is a local tradition to light lanterns and the sky was illuminated with HUNDREDS of them at any given time, from sunset through the ringing in of 2015. It was beautiful!
